Pay

Comparing hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual pay

A straightforward way to compare jobs advertised with different UK pay periods without overlooking a suitable role.

Compare like with like

The headline rate is only a starting point. Hours, paid weeks, holiday pay, pension, employment status and unpaid gaps can materially change the overall package. AxamyOne Jobs converts pay periods for search matching, but you should confirm the employer’s assumptions before accepting an offer.

  • Hourly to weekly: hourly rate × paid hours per week.
  • Weekly to annual: weekly pay × paid weeks per year.
  • Monthly to annual: monthly pay × 12.
  • Daily to annual: day rate × expected paid days, allowing for unpaid leave and gaps between contracts.

Look beyond gross pay

Compare pension contributions, holiday entitlement, sick pay, travel costs, bonuses, training and contract security. A contractor’s day rate is not directly equivalent to an employee’s daily salary because the surrounding benefits and tax position may differ.

Ask for clarity

If an advert is unclear, ask which hours or working days the range assumes, whether holiday pay is included and whether the role is employed, temporary, fixed term or contract. For personal tax decisions, use official HMRC guidance or speak to a qualified adviser.
