About the role
Are you passionate about science and education? We are currently seeking to appoint a keen and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team. As a key member of the Science Faculty, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education to our students. This position involves working across KS3, KS4 and KS5 including GCSE, A level and BTEC A level classes, covering all science disciplines.
The responsibilities of the role include:
- the preparation and maintenance of stock solutions and apparatus for lessons and experiments, ensuring they meet the needs of the science curriculum
- the provision of technical help, preparation of materials, media and cultures for individual students during special investigation assignments
- supervision, secure safekeeping and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment, adhering to health and safety standards
- the provision of assistance with photocopying and reprographic duties relating to lessons, cover and examination
The ideal candidate will have:
- a relevant science-based qualification
- knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting
- excellent organisational and communication skills
- the ability to work effectively in a team
Previous experience of working in a similar role within a school is desirable.
