About the role
We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our youngest learners, supporting children aged 3 and 4 years in our nursery provision and helping them to make a positive start to their educational journey at St Thomas More School.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and Early Years team to provide high-quality learning experiences, promote children's wellbeing and development, and help create a nurturing environment in which every child can flourish.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Understands the importance of play-based learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Can support children's learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality interactions.
- Is patient, caring and able to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Has good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Will actively support the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Level 2 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
- GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Experience of working with children aged 3-5 years in an educational or childcare setting.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Level 3 Early Years Educator, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
- Experience of working within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Knowledge of child development and early learning.
- Experience of supporting children with additional needs.

This role is for 6.5 hours daily 5 days per week (this can be flexible to 4 days per week)
