About this Role

The children, staff and Governing Board of Barcroft Academy are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, inspirational and enthusiastic full-time EYFS Teacher to join our dedicated and supportive team.

We are looking for an excellent practitioner with a genuine passion for early years education, who understands how young children learn and can create an ambitious, nurturing and stimulating Nursery environment in which every child can thrive.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead learning within our Nursery classroom, working alongside an experienced team of support staff and playing an important role within our EYFS team and the wider life of Barcroft Academy.

Main Responsibilities (see attached job description for further details):

We are looking for a teacher who:

• Demonstrates excellent pedagogical knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Teachers’ Standards.

• Is passionate about early childhood education and understands how purposeful play, high-quality interactions and carefully planned continuous provision support children’s learning and development.

• Has high expectations for every child, building effectively on what children already know, understand and can do.

• Can make a positive impact on children’s learning, development, confidence and readiness for the next stage of their education.

• Creates an engaging learning environment that promotes creativity, curiosity, investigation, communication, reasoning and problem-solving.

• Understands the importance of developing children’s communication and language, personal development and independence alongside their wider learning.

• Is dynamic in their ability to nurture, inspire and challenge children so that they make strong progress from their individual starting points.

• Celebrates the uniqueness of every child and is committed to ensuring that all children, including those with additional needs and those learning English as an additional language, are fully included and supported to succeed.

• Is an excellent role model who can lead learning and provision within the Nursery classroom, working effectively alongside our experienced Teaching Assistants.

• Demonstrates flexibility, commitment and excellent interpersonal skills, working collaboratively as a valued member of the EYFS and wider academy team.

• Understands the importance of establishing strong and productive partnerships with parents and carers.

• Has high expectations of themselves and others and is committed to their own professional development.

• Promotes an environment in which children’s rights, wellbeing, safety and individuality are respected.

• Is fully committed to safeguarding and ensures that the academy’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures are followed at all times.

An Enhanced DBS certificate will be required on provisional offer, including a check of the Children’s Barred List. Further vetting checks, in line with the requirements of Keeping children safe in education 2025 will be completed following a provisional offer of appointment. Where applicable, if an applicant with a provisional offer of employment has lived and/or worked outside the UK, they will be required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct.
