The Role
We are currently recruiting a resilient and empathetic Teaching Assistant to work with children who exhibit challenging behaviour in a supportive school setting in Wirral. Starting as soon as possible, this full-time role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of pupils who benefit from additional behavioural support. You’ll work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to help create a positive and structured learning environment that enables students to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour in both classroom and one-to-one settings
• Help implement personalised behaviour support strategies and interventions
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and emotional regulation
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports learning and development
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of learning activities, tailored to pupils’ individual needs
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support progress and well-being
What we are looking for
• Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, social, or emotional needs
• A calm, consistent, and proactive approach to managing challenging behaviour
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils and colleagues
• A strong sense of empathy, resilience, and dedication to improving outcomes for all learners
• Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour support, Team Teach, or similar, are desirable
