The Role
We are seeking a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to work in a school in the Wirral area. This role involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a school environment. Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams, you will play a vital part in fostering positive change and supporting young people’s personal and academic development
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour, including those with SEMH needs
• Implement tailored strategies to improve behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
• Act as a positive role model, building trust and encouraging pupils to make constructive choices
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and school staff to develop and follow behaviour plans
• Support pupils in reintegrating into lessons and maintaining a productive learning environment
• Record and report on pupil progress, contributing to reviews and interventions as needed
What we are looking for
• Experience working with young people with behavioural challenges, ideally in an educational or mentoring setting
• Strong interpersonal skills to connect with pupils and de-escalate difficult situations
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with an understanding of SEMH and related needs
• Confidence in managing conflict and promoting positive outcomes for young people
