The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to work in a school in the Wirral area. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them access their education and thrive in a school environment. Working closely with teachers and SENCOs, you’ll provide tailored assistance to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners. This is a full-time role with the opportunity to go permanent.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with ASD, adapting to their individual needs and learning styles
• Assist in delivering lessons and activities, ensuring pupils with ASD can participate fully
• Use strategies such as visual aids, routines, and sensory support to create a calm and inclusive environment
• Encourage social skills, communication, and independence through personalised interventions
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing insights with staff to support ongoing development
What we are looking for
• Knowledge or experience of supporting children with ASD in an educational or care setting
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to use alternative communication methods if needed (e.g., Makaton or PECS)
• A patient, understanding, and flexible approach, with a passion for helping pupils succeed
• Ideally experience working with young people (not essential but beneficial)
